My 94 Honda Accord won't stop overheating . I can
put coolant in it and will be fine running for about
30 mins then it starts to overheat specially at red
lights. I don't think the fans are coming on. I
replaced the thermostat so that isn't the issue. I
don't know how to tell if it's a freeze plug, relay, fan
motor or what. Ugh I'm just at wits end with this
The coolant is going somewhere. The question is, is it leaking internally (head gasket or coolant passage or head itself) or externally? A pressure test will show you the leak, because it pressurizes the system enough to tell you where your leak is. Call shops near you and ask how much a coolant pressure test to find a leak is, and maybe a head gasket test to see if there are combustion gasses in the cooling system. (There should not be). Cooling fans not coming on can cause boiling in the radiator or engine so we need those on! They pull cool air through the radiator and condenser. Start with fans, and do these other items if problem continues, but you shouldn't have to add coolant at all.
