2000 expedition
Well my 2000 expedition seemed to have
a fuel problem a backyard mechanic told
me fuel pump so I replaced with a whole
other tank (used) and new filter. Now all
replaced and my gas gage shows empty
and still won't start I am not a mechanic
so did I do something wrong or what else
could it be

The proabality is high that it is still the fuel pump, as the gauge reads empty I would say the entire fuel pump assembly is bad, did you test the one in the repalcement tank before installing it, used fuel pumps tend to go bad from just sitting exposed to the air cause today's fuel starts corroding them when fully exposed to the normal atmosphere, and you never know just how roughly the tank has been handled beforehand, that's most likely what killed the sender. Check your power and ground to the pump assembly, you should have battery voltage briefly when the key is first turned on then it will go away, this is normal, the computer won't allow fuel pressure until the engine is running, if you don't have power then check the interia switch, fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse. If you unplug the fuel pump, assembly and turn on the key the fuel gauge should go way past full, if it does then the circuit for the gauge is good, the sender is bad. HTH
