My 2000 Ford Expedition won't restart when it is hot. Is there a temperature sensor that prevents the starter motor from engaging when it is too hot?

No,there is no sensor for this, you may need to check the starter it self,if starter is good, then you might have engine problem,s,but more than likely if it crank,s when cool,it will be the starter getting hot and not working.

It could be that your starter motor bushings are bad and the armature drags when it gets hot. Also, check ALL battery cables for broken wires in the braded cable causing resistance.
