98 gmc jimmy

I have a 89 gmc jimmy 4wd. My car want crank.i took it to a
mechanic he said it's not the fuel pump or starter...what
might it be?

If it won't crank its a Battery or starter CIRCUIT issue! DO a starter voltage drop test. What did the "mechanic" guess it was?

What do you mean by crank? Turn over, or not start?

So it will turn over but it will not start because you say there is no spark, correct? Then you have to check out the distributor cap, rotor, coil, ignition control module, and the coil pick up. These are the things that make your spark. One common problem on those is the rotor will burn out on the underneath side so the spark would run to ground causing a no spark condition.
