Easy and cheap engine swap

Asked by NZ_Thomas Feb 12, 2016 at 12:20 AM about the 1995 Honda Civic DX

Question type: General

Looking to keep a 1995 civic on the road,
a crankshaft bolt broke and a few things
went haywire. The body has relatively low
k's on it for its age and is in good nick,
small amount of surface rust, plus usual
scratches and bumps. But like I said good
for it's age.
Just trying to gauge whether it'd be easier
and more cost effective to swap out the
whole engine, of to open it up and get into
replacing all the crap that went bung.
1.5l Dx civic. Also depending on what
engines are available, maybe something a
little quicker :p. Are there other engine
sizes compatible without having to change
the tranny, mounts, etc

At this point, want to get an Idea if it's
worth even bothering or just flicking it off
as is.

Thanks

the car is worth $300 now- put another engine in and it's worth $1000- can you do this for $700?- no- unless you have money to burn, just get into another car-
