Thermostat gasket

I recently replaced the thermostat. Is it necessary to replace the gasket?
Because I don't have one so I didn't put any gasket but only the silicone
sealant on the housing. Will I have any problem if I didn't put a gasket? It
seems okay and not overheating.

The thermostat has a gasket seal for a reason. Which is to keep coolant from leaking out and to keep air from getting into the cooling system. I would always replace the gasket with a new thermostat. Honda does not recommend using silicone 2 seal a thermostat housing.
