$995 destination charge

Asked by jrossmny May 02, 2019 at 10:30 AM about the 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Premium AWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I was lured to a dealer with a price of $21,365. But after various charges the
price was closer to $25,000. I know that taxes have to be added to the price,
but a destination charge of $995 is nonsense. Shouldn't that be the advertised
price including these fees?

Yes, that is quite high. Did you have the car shipped to another dealer? The cost was probably in the fine print.

Tell them you won't pay it. On a used car this is most likely price padding, nothing more.

The only legit destination charges for new cars are listed on the Monroney window sticker. Dealer added fees should not be paid.

Depends on the state, ask for the breakdown of the fee. If they can't answer then that's a problem.
