PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO START IN THE MORNINGS...sounds like an Idle air control valve https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/hyundai,2003,elantra,2.0l+ l4,1415809,fuel/air

good point tennisshoes..I discovered the Idle air control, when I started shoppin' for that~

did I ever mention a choke? well whatever it has constricting and enriching the gas flow...might have to call up a picture to see what we're dealin' with here, but the throttle is NOT on a cable, but a little servo motor/resolver? I know the Koreans are a tiny bit behind on the technology, perhaps they were just saving a buck by doin' it the old fashioned way...am going to have to look at the drawings~
