Overheating

Asked by Biggdavee Aug 18, 2018 at 01:28 AM about the 1997 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Honda Civic LX with a
1.6 single overhead cam. I'm having a
overheating problem in which I have
replaced the following items. How to
replace the radiator, hoses, thermostat
four different times, timing belt,
waterpump, and timing belt tensioner. I
am able to drive my Honda almost 50
miles before it starts to overheat. My
fans are both working, condensing fan,
and radiator fan are both working and
come on when they're supposed to. If
anyone has any information please let
me know thank you for reading.

Do your brakes need servicing? If the motor has to continuously work harder it will run hotter. I'd check that the caliper sliders and pistons are moving freely and smoothly
