Car has issues starting 1998 Honda Accord
I have a 1998 Honda Accord, the engine will turn over and eventually it will
start. Sometimes the car does not want to start. I have to continue to turn the
engine over and eventually it starts. What is the problem. I know that I need a
new catalytic converter. Will this stop car from starting.
Aren't u throwing a check engine light.?
A clogged catalytic converter will not cause your starting problems; it will just inhibit acceleration and top speed. As I can't see the car, I suspect it's the fuel pump regulator or the pump itself. Try this: Do not start the car, but turn key to "on" for 3 seconds; turn off and wait for 5 seconds; repeat three times. This energized the pump/regulator to deliver fuel without stalling. If this works, replace the regulator, which might be part of your fuel pump. Part of this might also be caused by a dirty throttle body. clean it and add injector cleaner to the gas.
