If your keys have a security feature built into them then you will need to have them programmed to your car.

You will need to involve a Honda dealer if the keys are chipped. If you provide them with the VIN and proof of ownership they should be able to cut you a new set of keys. They can also take care of the security issues if any.

The reason the Honda Dealer is telling you that is because the vehicle is 18 years old and the key codes are no longer on file. Check with a local locksmith and see if they can make you new keys and do the programing. A good locksmith should be able to. Unfortunately it won't be cheap! HTH. -Jim
