I have a 2003 Jetta that does the same thing. I've had it just a few months since a shop obtained it from a released pink. What I do is turn off quickly and right back to on, the light will go off. I have had no problems with the performance of the car when I do this.
i have engine light epc light and bulb shape lights on hard to drive my mechanic doesn't wants to touch.
