HONEST QUESTION that I have clue the answer about my AC

Asked by JessicaMartinez Jun 15, 2016 at 09:58 AM about the 2001 Honda Civic DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I have a 2001 Honda Civic that I drove a few
hundred milles from CT to FL (I didn't drive it the
whole way, I used the Amtryak Autotrain for the
majority of my trip). I have been in FL for 10 months
now and my car has been through the ringer. Not so
bad, but still... Having learned that my civic is
susceptible to overheating, I have mastered the
overbearing task of not overheating it. Basically, I
drive with the windows down, never have my AC
on, actuall have the temperature on heat (but neve
on) and I dodge traffic as often as I can. It does
pretty well... But it's Florida and I'm getting kinda
hot just using the Windows. I'm honesty too scared
to find out what would happen if I turn the AC on.
Any suggestions are MUCH APPRECIATED!

Start your car (in your driveway or parking space) turn the AC on and see if it blows cold air? IF, it does watch the temperature gauge as it heats up... Florida, is to hot in the summer For you and the vehicle NOT, to have a fully functional cooling system, and AC is mandatory in my option! So check out estimated service costs call around, BUT your Civic sounds rather beat...consider moving into a another vehicle the newest lowest mileage one you can afford is the rule, and don't buy JUNK, Every manufacture builds some junk models.. research model by model not by maker.
