Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was on my way to work when the rpm's suddenly dropped and the car stopped
running. I coasted into a parking lot. I attempted to start the car, it sounded like
it wanted to turn over, but it would not start. The following day I went back, with
starter fluid, thinking it was the fuel pump/filter. Unfortunately, it still would not
start.

Check the battery first, it could be that your battery or alternator crapped out on you. We have a 2000 Accord V6 and you would not believe the things that car started doing when the alt. went and killed the battery.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, I had it towed to the garage. The timing belt broke while moving, it has a Zero Tolerance Engine. The pistons hit the valves causing them to bend. Head will probably need machined, and may be other damage. Don't know for sure at this point. Long story short, its not going to be a cheap fix

Been there done that twice with the same car (Son's) very poor design! I actually the engine covers off and ran the car after repairing it, just to observe what happens when you accelerate and decelerate and it was amazing just how much those stupid rubber belts jump on those pulleys. It is the stupidest design car makers ever came up with for the heart of the engine! They should go back to timing chains and sprocket gears but then they would loose out on stealing a lot of money from car owners for "unnecessary repairs". Good luck.
