BMW- dealer tells me I need a new transmission

Asked by GuruY2F2H Mar 28, 2018 at 12:12 AM about the 2012 BMW X1 xDrive28i AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 bmw x1. It has only 140,000km on it. I am the second owner and
bought it certified. It recently started jerking when I shifted from park to drive.
After having the transmission fluid changed it still doing this. Not all the time
but somtimes. Now, it started jerking while driving (between shifting gears).
The BMW shop has told me the gear box needs to be replaced. Was quoted
$13000. IS it just me or is this crazy?? ANyone had this happen? Any tips?

Thanks for the suggestion. Does that not seem unreasonable though? That it needs to be replaced so quickly?

Nearly 100,000 miles. Not unreasonable in my mind especially if it was not maintained properly. The cost is pure BMW.
