98 honda civic crank no start

Just replaced the engine in my 98 civic a year a
go.I drove to work fine no problem, but after i tried
to start her up she cranked but would not start. Got
a jump from a coworker still same issue. She
cranks up but there is a high pitched noise from
engine. Got it towed to the mechanics they got her
to start but just barely, it stayed on with a little
throttle. They couldn't give me a direct problem but
wanted to sell me on a engine. The car is like new
with a lil over  70,000 miles so i doubt it needs a
new engine. Need help!!! If someone could  point
me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it.

Well, a year ago is not JUST. What is the back story? it must be good.2 engine's in 70,000 miles! and it's a Honda! I need to hear this.

my dad and i put a new engine in it around a year ago. Its a solid car with three owners. The only real problem it has is the passanger window getting stuck half way down every now and again. I shelter the car from any real danger the best i can after i put the engine i drove from va to new york with zero issues drove until jan this year. Like i said it cranks but makes a high pitched squeel before it stops. The mechanic couldn't tell me the exact problem but was trying to sell me on a new engine so i just got it towed back home. I asked him if its the starter, the alternator anything all i got was i dont know and shrugs
