Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My engine light is on for a catalytic converter, and maybe a rear oxygen sensor or gasket, it was a while ago...

Does any of this have any part in the performance. Sorry I am a complete newbie when it comes to cars. I really need this as it is the only means of transportation to provide for my family. I have check the transmission/engine fluid levels. They seem fine. But the there is no shifting nor acceleration of the vehicle when the foot in on the gas pedal. What would be causing this. I am tired of paying for Uber, and seeing my car parked right in front of my apartment without any use :( please advise..... anyone.

The transmission is probably slipping. Rebuilding it is probably going to be necessary. Take it to a good trans shop for diagnosis but do your research and find a good shop as most are not any good.

Should I purchase a used trans from the junkyard and pay about a thousand for labor and parts, or rebuild one for 3500, or get a refurbished one from the manufacturer and pay 2500 for parts and labor?

Is the car worth a new trans or are you going to dump it? Look at the warranties, your budget and what the car is worth to you.
