Does the entire drive shaft need to be replaced if u joints are bad?

Asked by dray123 Jul 25, 2015 at 06:24 PM about the 2005 Honda Pilot EX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mechanic told me my u joints on 05
Pilot are going. I have been hearing a clunk
occasionally when putting it reverse so I
don't doubt they should be replaced, but the
mechanic said with Honda Pilots you can't
just replace the u joints. He said I'll need the
entire drive shaft replaced. Is this true?
