It appears everyone that owns a 2016-17 Honda Civic has had issues with their AC; including compressor, condenser and coil. I started having this problem in 2019. I had dye placed with the freon in 2019 costing $200 for AC flush and fill. I brought to them because I thought the condenser was the issue. Then in April my AC started blowing hot air intermittently and I’d shut it off and then turn it back on and it would cool for a while. Soon it was mainly all hot air (like your get from Honda Corporate). So I brought it back to the Honda service after filling a complaint with recalls. They still insist it’s not covered in the recall. They had my car for over two weeks and soon found out the compressor seized up shooting shrapnel through the compressor. The service department agreed to cover the parts if I took care of the labor. The labor accounts to 90% of the bill so thanks for nothing Honda. He service advisor said the bill was over $3000, $1300 would be my cost. Of course this is not shown on the invoice. It showed only my piece and all other sections marked up with under warranty and cost associated. Needless to say I filed a complaint with Honda corporate again. They stated since it’s out of warranty they aren’t obligated to take care of anything. I said that’s all and good if this was a fluke issue but thousands of people are being affected by this whole issue. They weren’t willing to assist any further. That’s okay, I’ll send a complaint to the BBB about their antics and I’ll never buy a Honda ever again. This was the worst way to appease a customer and never again. I’d like to file a lawsuit against them too, but since I’m out all this money I can’t afford one. Anyone else have this issue with Honda Corporate?!
