2003 Lincoln Aviator

Asked by 91_Acura Sep 03, 2016 at 09:42 AM about the 2003 Lincoln Aviator Premium AWD

Question type: General

He All, I have a 2003 Lincoln Aviator with 180k. I bought it a
few months ago. I've had it serviced by a mechanic and he
said the engine is running really good now with no check
engine lights coming on. He changed coils, plugs, wires and
a new battery. He said that when he was taking it for a test
drive that the transmission shifts hard and that in his
opinion i need a new transmission. I dont know what to do
at this point. Plz Help.

They all do it that is one of the reasons they stop making them but be easy wth them and it will keep going. I have friends replace all trans rear end and it still does. I have had my o5 since new and it's got 12500 but I love it.

Every time the battery is disconnected the transmission must relearn shifting patterns ,it learns shift patterns from the driver, when learning hard shifts are normal
