2001 dodge neon coolant leak

Asked by Msfixitbymyself Jan 11, 2017 at 10:10 AM about the 2001 Dodge Neon Highline SE Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My neon started running hot. No leaks in the
radiator. The leak is coming from the side near the
battery I replace both the heater hoses but the leak
is still there I can't understand what else could be
leaking over there by the battery. And after I crank
it up and it runs for awhile it starts to steam, steam
is coming from somewhere between that motor
and Battery Any suggestions?

The heater core is on the side of the battery and that may be leaking, any water on the rug on the drivers side????

Could it be a corroded freeze plug at the rear of the engine?
