Got a 1991 500 sl and I can't find a vin plate on it. Where should I look

On most cars it is visible through the windshield in a lower corner.

Ive looked on the dash and on the doors. Where else can a guy look to find the vin?
Lift the bonnet (hood if you're American), there should be a plate riveted to the front brace where the bonnet catch is. It's also stamped into the fire wall, possibly hidden behind a plastic cover.
