We are seeking a way to have our friend's Orange Beetle restored
I have a friend that recently had a double transplant of Pancreas and a Kidney due to
diabetes. She is a very nice person and her father bought her an Orange, early 70's Beetle
bug car when she was a teen, but her father died a few years ago. Basically the car is now
sitting in a field decaying, but I know if we can find a way to get it restored for her it would
really give her a boost and help her stay close to her father. Does anyone know of a
company or shop that does these type of things? There used to be shows on TV where they
did this for people. We would be willing to set up a gofundme, have a fundraiser other
options depending on total costs.
You could spend 40 or 50 grand getting a ground up restoration done on one of these cars. Is that how you want to spend that kind of money? Perhaps try to find a used similar car?
I would say you could get it painted, new interior and engine for well under $20,000 if you don't want a show car. You will need a mechanic to get it running, a paint and body shop and a upholstery shop. Look for a VW specialist in your area.
