1968 karmann ghain starting and running problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Muxy has come out for the summer and is on holiday, she will start after
prolonged cranking hot or cold and runs sweet as a nut once running. I've
checked the points gap and tightened fuel lines, dizzy is good.
Normally starts first turn and I have limited tools with me? Can't be coil,
leads, plugs or points because of sweet running once started. Any help
greatly appreciated as I'm off home in 3 days.

I would make sure the choke is working properly. It may need adjustment.

Thanks for the reply, first of all I thought old petrol but filled up and a 3 hour drive kinda dispels that, I'll have a look and report back

just checked the ceramic point where the connection from the coil goes to and it's cracked, manually put the choke on full and it fired straight up, no more embarrassing COME ON START when people are looking and I can take madam for her ice cream and my pint Thanks a bunch
