Thank you. I was going to wait, and see if it happens again, but I guess I should call the dealer tomorrow

It's a new car should be covered by some type of warranty

It could be linked to the wheel sensors especially if one failed as they are tied into the AWD system. Example: If you have a flat tire and have to use the spare the AWD will be disabled as there is no sensor in the factory spare. Once the regular tire / rim is back on the vehicle, AWD will be enabled again. Hope this helps you.

It happens to me occasionally in the snow here in NH, especially if I push iny 2017 Encore to hard. It says in the owners manual that will happen with excessive spin in the wheels...they get to hot so the AWD turns off until it cools down. Very inconvenient (not to mention dangerous) depending on where you are driving when it happens. If I had known it was going to do that I never would of purchased this vehicle considering I live in central NH.

NHBuick We have the same thing in SE Ohio with 2016 Buick Encore. Extremely hilly rural area and this car is totally useless on snow and ice. Vehicle is AWD and we love it when the weather is nice and dry. On cold snowy days best to leave it parked in the garage and take the four wheel drive truck. That is unless you enjoy walking in the snow. I would have never bought this vehicle if I knew how poorly it performed on snow and ice. Very disappointing!

I don't know of any vehicle that is very good on ice - especially black ice. It's best to stay home under those conditions. As for snow - I've had no problems with my 2016 Encore in snow. If you are having issues consult the dealer or your extended warranty. Look at my reply above (tillamook) concerning the wheel sensors. Any one of them not functioning will disable the AWD system. Before condemning this fine automobile - do some homework.

My Buick Encore, you would swerve from being on 2 inches of snow on ground, and could never go over 20 mph, you on ice, then you will have no control. This was the same after putting $1000 brand new snow tires on. The dealer I went to later told me he had a Buick Encore previously and he had the same issues
