2016 Chevy Equinox rattle

Asked by Mar 24, 2016 at 09:46 AM about the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: General

Just purchased a new 2016 Equinox LS AWD and there
seems to be a rattle on the passenger side. It sounds like
thin metal vibrating when I drive on slightly rough roads
but no rattle on smooth roads. I know noise can travel so
it might be coming from the door or someplace else. Has
anyone else noticed this in the new model?

Thank you for answering and I do plan on having it looked at by the dealer. I only posted on here just in case someone else experienced the same issue and was able to locate where the rattle actually was coming from. Noise travels and where you think it's coming from might be somewhere diffent.

yes, I have the same issues. Drives me nuts! Also, after I stop, I get a banging sound from underneath. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that these are minor issues that won't be resolved. Wouldn't buy another Chevy for sure.

I have a 2017 that has now been in the shop four days and the last time they replaced the radio control cover and now my heat selector button stick on and I still have the rattle. More pieces orders and another day without my new car. My noise is somewhere near the top where the vent meets the radio cover and the sun shield. Anyone else have this problem?

It's probably the heat shield for the exhaust.

If you have cross rails on roof of car shake them and see if they are loose one of mine is very loose so I’m assuming that is what is causing my rattling
