Can someone help me?

Asked by Guru6RNV5 Mar 31, 2020 at 07:16 PM about the 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently got my car service. I needed a new fuel
pump now that I’ve paid all the money for them to
drop my tank and apply a new fuel pump! They are
saying my gas gauge is not reading properly and I
will need a whole new fuel pump. Can someone
help me please?

Shops have the option to replace just the pump or the entire fuel pump module that also contains the fuel level sensor. I'm guessing your shop opted for the pump only. Did the fuel gauge work before they replaced the pump? It has to come out with the pump so it probably got damaged. Pay the shop for a fuel pump moduel with the sender, but the shop should do the labor for free since they're the ones that messed up the gauge.
