Can I use snow tires on my new 2016 Miata which has presure monitoring?

Asked by Geoffh Jan 22, 2016 at 04:46 PM about the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought snow tires and mounted them on rims for my 2007 Miata.  Now I have a 2016 MIata with tire pressure monitoring.  What will happen if I mount the snow tires and rims onto my new Miata.
I know the pressure sensing will not work but will anything bad happen?

The warning light will be on all the time if the snow tires don't have pressure monitors.

They will be fine on the car, but as said above the warning light will remain on while the winter wheels are installed. I wouldnt bother with TPS for the winter wheels as they would probly only be used for a few months. No damage will be incured by swapping the wheels.
