Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light has been on for years and I finally checked it with a generic reader.  Something to do with emissions, but I'm lost from there.  Google gives me too many different answers...

So, is this just a bad wire that I can trace and repair, or do I need to purchase a part and replace it?

I recommend you replace both 02 HEGO sensors bank 1 and bank 2 these can be purchased very reasonably and are one of the main input signals responsible for the airfuel ratio 14.7 is what there trying to maintain called Fuel trim. Your a '06 Avalanche will perform better with increased fuel economy. Bosch 15150 Oxygen Sensor $55-$60each UPSTREAM SENSOR~~ 2 NEEDED.

Hopefully, it's a quick fix, as Auto_Centric mentioned. Have you looked on Engine-Codes.com? I found that to be a good resource when 5 codes appeared on my '09 Avalanche LT-2 1.5 years ago. Here's what I found on their site for P0426: http://www.engine-codes.com/P0426.html. Good luck!!
