AC Compressor

As i was driving home home yesterday during the
afternoon commute i suddenly noticed a smoke
smell coming in through my cabin.So i got off and
saw smoke coming from the AC Comprssor Clutch
my only question is should i replace the clutch or
the whole compressor the AC stays cold so i would
guess its the clutch hopefully but someone please
help.

I would replace the whole compressor. 2001, you don't know when it will go out after putting a new clutch on. The clutch kits are almost the cost of the entire unit also. Getting to it might be reason enough if you have to take it off anyway.
