Why is my 2001 mustang skipping an acting like there is air in the gas tank

It was low on gas so i put 3$ in it an it drove
fine then i came home about hour an got in car
drove it bout 7miles an it started doing this. Put
5$ MORE GAS AN STILL DOING IT

You should never run a car with less than 1/4 of a tank of gas on a regular basis. put some gas in the car. 5 bucks doesn't buy much. if you continue this practice you could (if you haven't already) damage your fuel pump. fuel in the tank keeps the pump cool while running. Keep the tank full and drive the car. if it still has problems scan the computer for codes and post back here. also, wouldn't hurt to change the fuel filter.
