trade in is much better as you will save on tax . you need to calculate how much saving if you trade it rather than sell it and pay full tax

The above makes no sense at all. Selling the car yourself will give you a higher selling price if you want to deal with the hassle of selling it. Trading in will give you a rock bottom price and no hassle. BTW - if you are trading in a 2016 you may end up upside down, compare the value of the car to what you owe!
