accessory

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

shift into park, shut off car and accessory stays on.  Only solution is to restart,
shift out of park and then back into park and turn car off and hope accessory
goes off.  What is the problem?

Lights and radio. Don't know about you but my tie clip doesn't show up on starter button light.

Thanks for the hint but spraying contact cleaner on a button doesn't appear to go very far to solving the problem. It doesn't happen every time and I am able to get the accessory to turn off. I would think the problem has more to do with a sensor not recognizing the transmission is in park. Although I can't shift out of park until I restart so it knows it is in park. Quite the conundrum.

Just Bought one, you don't have a problem. Lights, radio accessories go off automatically once you exit the driver door and key is with you not in the car, delay Is 2 minutes. On the old cars the dome lights and headlights went off after 2 minutes also but the radio shuts off immediately when the key is off. There is no key with the SRX or XT5 as it uses a transponder to send a signal, no actual key switch, just the OFF button. If the key(transponder) is in the car then you get a warning alarm, Smart. This is listed in the owner's manual. I know the dealer said it goes off with the driver door, not the passenger door which also makes perfect sense if your dropping someone off and your staying in the car.
