How to remove 70 V lithium polymer battery from 2016 Hyundai Sonata Limited hybrid

Asked by GuruDQ2B4 Sep 06, 2017 at 10:21 PM about the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2016 Hyundai sonata limited hybrid got totaled on the side. I would like to remove the 70 V lithium polymer battery and try to make some money by selling it to the dealer or on ebay. Does anyone know how to remove the lithium battery?? I would hate to junk the entire car..

If the battery is damaged in any way I would not touch it. You would also need to disclose that the battery is out of a wreaked car. In any case the battery must be removed before it is crushed.

Above all be careful because if you short it out there will be a big problem.

Agree with what the other guys posted. If you don't have knowledge of how these batteries need to be handled you are asking for trouble. Get someone that knows what they are doing to remove the battery. Selling it on E-bay might be interesting and the freight may cost a fortune.

The fact that these batteries are getting more powerful after each and every generation. The fact that you ask the question is the best thing you could ever do. I work with Lithium and have built these personally. The 1st thing you should know is read and watch others how they have taken them apart. But you on the other hand only want to remove it not disassemble it. There is NOTHING DANGEROUS about them once you pulled the main FUSE! THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO FEAR IS THE FEAR THEY SELL YOU ON THIS PAGE... The Main Fuse is always accessible before removing, once pulled it is as safe as transporting gasoline. It MAY BE MUCH HEAVIER but that's it..
