Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When out to the car about 3 hours after leaving it and found the radio on. Unable to shut off, or adjust the radio in any way. Car starts and shuts off just fine. Started the car and the instruments wouldn't work, but I was able to drive it around the block.

Try pulling the radio fuse.

You do have a warranty!

Hopefully you have a small battery charger that you can put on it overnight so in the morning you can get it to the dealer, this really sounds like a programming error in the BCM, it controls all of the accessories. If you are still under warranty there should not be any cost to you if not it usually runs about a hundred bucks for a reflash.

Thanks Full_of_Regrets and tennisshoes. I went out and pulled the fuse for the radio and that shut it off. Then on a whim I pulled the fuse for the SYNC system and put both fuses back in. Seems to have reset the system and everything is working now. Off to the dealer in the morning to troubleshoot. Shouldn't be happening on a 6 month old car with 16,000 miles.

Your right, it should not be happening, it is possible that there is an underlying problem possibly a ground pathway, or even a voltage spike or surge, so you may have to have some sticktooitiveness and make sure they check all of power supplies and grounds, cause it only takes 1 ground not right to cause all kinds of grief.

My 2013 Ford edge does this all the time! I shut off the vehicle, get out of the car and radio is on, and I can't turn it off. Sometimes the radio randomly turns on when I'm driving and it's super loud! Any comments?
