With that new of car there is a possibility you don't have one you will be able to check it inside with your stereo or instrument cluster depends how loaded the vehicle is.

There probably isn't one, unfortunately. There is likely nothing more than an oil level indicator in your on board computer. It seems car companies don't want people servicing their own cars anymore... I hate that.

there is an oil level indicator in the "status" page (My car menu) on the main screen. So, no more need for the oil dipstick.

Your 2016 Volvo XC90 has an electronic oil level sensor and therefore a dip stick is no longer necessary. If you oil level is low or high a warning indicator will appear in the center display. If the oil level is low, it will indicate how much oil is needed. If you'd like to see the current oil level open the car status app from the app view in the centre display. - Brian Marsh, Park Place Volvo, Dallas, TX bmarsh2@parkplace.com

Silly idea,my neighbours 2015 XC90 has a greyed out graphic e.g. It is not showing anything,so he cannot tell how much oil is in the engine ? So does it need a reset or is it a loose wire or a sensor problem ?
