how is it that I was able to manually open the rear lift of my 2015 ford edge even though the doors are locked?

How is it possible that after I have locked the doors of my 2015 ford edge, I still
was able to open the rear lift gate manually with ease?

Do you have push button start. If you do then the vehicle is most likely equipped with easy access. And once the key is within 2-3 feet of any door and u reach for the handle it will unlock

Also, you use the fob to lock, one click it locks front doors, 2clicks it locks the front and back. Maybe you only clicked once?
