How do you have the front interior light to come on when the car door open?

Not sure about the newer models but on the older Camry's, you had to make sure that the interior light switch on the ceiling was turned on to the DOOR position. Should be a switch that says, ON, OFF, and DOOR.

AND.........there should be an OWNER'S MANUAL you can refer to when trying to figure out how things work on your vehicle.

I'm having the same issue right now in a 2016 SE. Did you ever figure out a way to turn them on or is it evem possible to turn them on? I've already checked owners manual and this is not my car so I'm not digging in a book.

The front light has only 2 map lights. They operate off an open/close circuit that is controlled through a push button directly under the lenses themselves. You would have to rewire the car in order to add a parallel circuit from the interior dome light to both map lights. There is no bulb in the center section. It is a reflector only. Its definitely misleading though. I popped the lenses off thinking I had a burned out bulb.
