Strange voltage levels

Asked by kyle Jun 10, 2020 at 09:56 AM about the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is having some weird fluctuations in the voltage. I recently
got a heads up display that shows the constant system voltage and
it's raised concerns.
Most times when I'm driving the voltage will not go higher than
11.8v when accelerating or cruising but when I coast it shoots up to
14-14.2v. then 1 or 2 days out of the week the voltage will sit at 14-
14.2v even when accelerating. What could be going on? Is it
alternator? Battery?(only a year old battery) battery management?
