Tire size

Asked by 84Vick Jan 26, 2016 at 05:37 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT RWD

Question type: General

I just purchased a 2015 Silverado crew cab LT 2wd. Stock
tire and wheel 255 70 17. I want to go with a 20 inch
wheel and an all terrain tire. I don't want to do a leveling
kit. Would a 275 55 20 tire work? And will it have no rub
issues?

The new tires will be 0.8" taller and 0.8" wider. Your speedometer will read 1.5 miles an hour low at 60. Use this tire calculator to help select your new tires ---- https://tiresize.com/calculator/

yes a 32'' tire will work. if you do not like leveling kits a body kit is cheap and easy to put on. you also do not loose the nice ride in your suspension but you get the extra height if needed. only problem you will have is your truck will look like it needs to be lifted. going bigger tires is not always easy because most of the time it will need a lift. if you are buying new rims? make sure your rim off set is correct (spacing) that will also keep you from rubbing. check rims on my truck. brand new shipped to me only cost 650... but with the 2007 and up. 33'' tires and bigger need lift kits...
