2001 Ford Escape V6 overheating

I changed the
thermostat still
overheats badly before
that it only overheated
after driving it for hours
on end now after 15
miles needle goes way
above red!

You may have a bad head gasket. First if you have not done so, the cooling system needs to be purged from air pockets when refilling. Here is how to do that... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpXgAJ1gjU >>>>>also, the water pump may need to be replaced, the impeller erodes away threw time, so it does not circulate like it should. One other thing would be a plugged radiator, requiring replacement or first try a coolant flush.
