Hyundai Tucson Loses Power - Keyless Entry/Start Engine Won't Work

Hi, I just leased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson and been having WEIRD issues with it. About
a week ago, I went to enter the car with keyless entry and it wouldn't work. I was
finally able to enter the car using the physical key, but then the car wouldn't start.
There was absolutely zero power to the car -- almost as if the car battery was dead.
After waiting on Hyundai Assist for 40 minutes, the car dashboard randomly blinked -
indicating power was back - and I was able to start the car. Took it into local deal, they
told me that a rubber band I had loosely around the shifter caused the sensor to not
recognize that the car was in park - hence losing power. I called BS on that, but they
sent me away without any further diagnostics. Same issue happened again last night -
this time, there was no rubberband around the shifter. Any thoughts? Clearly Hyundai
Service isn't helping...

sounds like the key's chip is dying or the chip reader is not working right, if it's the shiftier easy test put the car in (N) neutral and try to start it if car starts then shiftier sensor not lined up right if the sensor is not lined up car will think it's not in parking gear when it really is in gear. so if it does it again put the car in (N) neutral and try to start it then you will know the problem.

I noticed you are experiencing the same trouble I have with a 2015 Tucson. Remote stops working, interior lights stop working, trip computer and heater resets to factory default, It's clearly a problem with the car. I am taking it to Hyundai let's hope it's happening when I bring it in.

Hi I have a 2015 Tuscan bought it in May 2015 two weeks later I could not get in. Once I got in the car was dead. I called dealership in California told me to take remote and push it in the push button it worked. But dealership could not find problem. The car has gone back to Henderson Hyundi 3 times the last time they had the car for 11 days. I have started a claim with Hyundai for the lemon law . but Hyundai is fighing it. Natasha at Hyundai is the claim rep I am dealing with. More people need to complain about what is happening to us. The car is a lemon the representative of Hyundai mechanic is suppose to come to dealership to see what he can find. Please if you have 2015 Tuscan you need to contact Hyundai in your manual get a claim number and complain. Thank you

My '13 Tucson has been doing the same thing. Couldn't get in, thought it was the battery in the keyless remote so I used the mechanical key. Car wouldn't start but I heard a lot of clicking- as if someone was playing with the locks...I took they key out of the slot but it kept clicking, even when I walked away from the car. When I went back, it had stopped but still would not start. Called Hyundai assistance and they jumped it. Took to dealer and tested battery, it was fine. Said to schedule diagnostic appt, which I haven't had a chance to do yet. 6 weeks later now car again won't start, got the neighbor to jump. Next evening, car won't start, let it because I didn't need to go anywhere. Next afternoon asked friend for a jump but decided to try to start it fury- it started right up. Weird thing, last year the dash lights were lighting up like blinking Christmas lights and gauges were swinging all over the place. Took to dealer and they found corrosion on GHG06 and cleaned it. The GPS/Radio will also randomly not work. They finally showed me how to reset it but that's not normal. Taking it back on Tuesday for their diagnostic testing. We'll see...

I am having the same problem with my 05 Tuscon. Randomly will not start. When you put the key in to start you don't even get a clicking sound. I take the key out and try a few times and eventually starts

my daughter had the same problem as described by sallyjackson55; 2016 Tucson did not start with start button; the car was dead as door knob. her solution, put the key next to start button and push the start button; worked for her. Thank you sallyjackson55.

jax1511 I have the EXACT same issue with my 2015 Hyundai Tucson. It's happened 4 times in the 3 years I've had it, but it's horrible to be dead in the water in a BRAND NEW CAR. My dealership yesterday FINALLY said they had another case of this come in so they have a call into Hyundai. I'm debating getting a different car though (I'll try one more Hyundai) as I can't be stranded again when this happens, and I know it will (unless there is a fix). The remote start works when this occurs, but then when you get into the car it shuts off. Just a crazy issue, I wish they'd figure it out. If I here back from them with some info I'll post again.

I wounder why two new batteries replaced both dead after three months?. !. I have been recommended to keep the doors locked after leaving the car at home. I expect Hyundai should have solved the problem for us.

There was nothing wrong with my car battery. The reason my "keyless" 2013 Tucson wouldn't start was that the battery in the remote electronic key was dead. Hyundai needs to alert customers to the fact that the battery-dependent remote is the electronic key to the starter.

2017 Tucson 28 k mi. electrical issues, dealer replaced battery after 8 months old? Later sceen flashs low battery do not use peripheral accessories intermittently, Dealer did not read any fault codes. FOB no entry, will not start or recogonize with key FOB, new batteries. Dealer said key FOB are sending signal and there is no codes, no bad grounding cables and antenna is intact with no damaged. Dealer said they have no idea what is wrong.So far its 3 weeks with no car.

Same! 2015 Hyundai Tucson. Several times the vehicle has gone dead on me. Initially, I was able to start it by putting the car in neutral. The last two times. Dead, no power at all. Gear would not move out of park, I tried the pushing of the fab (both sets) on the start button. Nothing. The fab itself was working because I could lock and unlock the door inside the car with it, but not from the outside. Both times, eventually the car lit up and I was able to start the car, but it's extremely frustrating and a ridiculous issue to have to deal with. I will contact Hyundai to file a complaint!

My 2010 Tucson gave starting problem and with the help of local machinic I replace battery and I could start the engine but now after starting the engine it goes off automatically and the engine check signal. What is the solution

Hello, I recently bought a 2018 Hyundai Tuscan turbo and after I come from a Complete stop, the vehicle begins to chug viciously as it begins to roll forward. The dealership related saying it’s because of the turbo but I find it hard to believe because it does not seem right that the vehicle does it every time. What should I do?

My 2017 Tucson multiple times it will not start. The radio, light and air goes on but the car will not start. I have change the car battery and the battery on the fob. This has been going on for 2 months. Dealer can’t find what is wrong. It was been 2 weeks that they have my car.

I’m having the same issue with my 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The car isn’t able to read the key and starts intermittently. This morning all the lights snd air come on but the car won’t start at all. I’ve only had the car for 6 months and SO many problems!

I have a 2020 Hyundai Tucson I got October 2020. The vehicle now has 24k miles on it and one day when I went to leave I couldn't get the car to unlock and me blue link was unsuccessful. I tried my spare key incase it was the key fob that was bad. I ended up having to jump start my practically brand new car and while under the hood I saw my antifreeze was really low. I have had to put more antifreeze in the care several time now. My ADS turned it's self off and sometimes while on car play the screen will go black and stay black. I took it to the shop, they said my car says everything is perfect. My batter is at 97%, they told me my antifreeze was low (despite filling it up less that two weeks prior) they did a pressure test which showed no leaks of antifreeze and they turned my ADS system back on for me. I am already looking to trade this car in, what is the purpose of getting a new car if you are constantly going to have issues with it.

we have a 2019 Hyundai Tucson exactly the same problems everyone here is talking about. go to get in the car and its dead not even the key will let me in. open the door without pressing the button and try to start the car no luck. no dash board lights no power at all. had NRMA come out multiple times and there mechanics couldn't work out the problem. the last mechanic who came after i was at my wits end with it took me aside and said he wasn't allowed to say but these cars have an earthing problem. He took me under the hood and gave the earthing cable a little jiggle and it started up again. we have kind of been living with the problem as we know how to quickly fix it however my wife was driving the car yesterday and the car just shut down at speed. very scary. call to the dealership as our car is still under warranty and they want to charge us $200 for a diagnostics report, our car is not safe at the moment and i don't think i should have to pay for a report when the car is a now a safety hazard to my family. Anyway interested to know if this little trick of wiggling the wire works for others.
