BMW 5 series 2003 engine replacement

Asked by taheribrahim Feb 11, 2016 at 06:31 AM about the 2003 BMW 5 Series 520i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 520 BMW that made more than 130000 km. Engine mixes water
& oil. Need to replace the engine based on advise that overhaul repair may not
last for long. Can anyone please tell me where to find a new compatible
engine?

Any E39 6 cylinder should work, assuming that your 520 is a 6 cylinder. I assume the head gasket is leaking? The head gasket can be replaced. It's not an easy job, but it's much easier (and cheaper) than swapping the whole engine, if that's the only problem.

Buy another one. Why put that much money in a car that is not a collectors item?
