Sometimes with the A/C on, at idle the electric cooling fan(s) are running and at times they can sound like the engine is racing, but it is just the fan(s). If you have a tachometer (RPM gauge) what is it showing?

Which engine and what are you calling high and what engine? Stock idle for the 2.0 is around 700rpm, AC on may bump it to 800+.
