Most transmission today need to be filled and drained from underneath the vehicle. Check youtube for some videos. the basics are get the vehicle in the air, remove the fill plug, remove the drain plug. Reinstall drain plug, pump new fluid in at a certain temperature and engine running and removing and installing the drain and fill to get the proper fill level.

The Transit Connect has a sealed transmission which can only be services by an authorized service center.
