how to fix and trouble shoot Gmc Yukon 1996-1999 Suddenly stoped while driving

Asked by Jun 12, 2017 at 09:53 PM about the 1998 GMC Yukon SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Well..its my first time to join the web and share my
experience ..i Own a Gmc Yukon Gt 1999 first
owner From Oman. which  made me crazy when i
was driving it and decided to hardly accelerate and
speed up it suddenly shut off and what i remember
i saw the gauges fliping and hitting the max For
I pulled over a side and tried to start the car as it
never wanted to run..only cranking but no start at
all..noticing that my instruments arent illuminating
when key is on ignition. .fuel pump was running as
i can hear the wistle since its a walbro pump so it
has a loud noise..kept on trying till i couldnt hear
anything from the pump either csn i from the ECM
unit..So i towed away my car to a mechanic and he
told me it can be the ECM issue which might be
fried or a fuel issue..He said it will cost me 400
Riyals (1200 usd) to i decided to take my car
away home and try to find a way how to fix this after the car been sitting for about a week
and im searching the web for a solotion..idecided
to go and check it by my self since i do work on
electrical and mechanical stuff so it a good thing
to skip time on my car..
i started to check Relays and fuses which is
located under the hood, check the airmass
sensor..checked for loose wires..same i did on the
fuses by the steering wheel..
1-A ground wire was totaly detached due to rust
and heat from the body and thats where it
connects to the alternator iv got a cramping ring
and re installed it in place.
2-i replaced the Fuses number 4-21(Prndl,Guages)
which was blown out from the steering wheel side.
3-cleaned the filter and sprayed wd-40 on the ECM
harnes and connector.
Came back to start the car and my dash was back
with lights and the check lights which is supposed
to have when on ign and engine is not
running, cranked the car and it started right away.
sorry for my bad english since im from an arabic
country and english is not my mother tounge

security issue and been parked since 2013 ill post
