Why does my car suddenly turn off?

Asked by Guru1DY8W Aug 20, 2019 at 08:34 AM about the 2015 Kia Forte EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving home from work at night and hit this
cement bump on road(Houston roads) I pulled over
to make sure no fluids were leaking(nothing was
leaking) and my car just turned off while parked.
Battery was recently replace and everything is
properly connected. When I'm parked or driving the
Oil and check engine light come on and car shuts
off. When it shuts off it's just the engine. What
could possibly be wrong with my car?

my 2017 kia forte is doing the same thing the mechanic checked it for me with a code reader and the codes were the cam shaft sensor, so he ordered two and replaced them. the code went away but the car had the same problem it keeps shutting off when it stops accelerating, like going over a hump or turning. So then he told me to get the crank shaft sensor and replaced that and it did good for a couple minutes then shut off again. What could this be? There are no more codes coming up on scanner

I would like an explanation or cause for this too. My 2015 kia forte does the same thing. I have no codes showing up though. h0p3y76@gmail.com

Hey guys, I have a 2015 Kia Forte that has this same issue, no engine lights, no oil lights, randomly shutting down when turning or slowing/stopping. I took it to my friend's dad who is a mechanic with his own shop and he told me that its because the engine burns through oil fast so if the level is low enough and you turn or slow down suddenly a sensor in the oil tank thinks there's no oil in the tank and triggers it to shut down to not damage the engine. I have found that if I change my oil every 3 months, I don't have the issue. But I have to change it every 3 months regardless of how many miles I've driven. Since I've started doing the frequent oil changes I have not had the issue(I've been doing this over a year now). Admittedly, I'm not a car person, but this was such a big problem for so long, I just want to share the routine that has finally given me some peace of mind for anybody still out there looking for solutions.

I have had the same issues with my 2015 Kia Forte it stalls after driving it a little. When I come to a light or a stop the RPMs drop sIgnificantly and tries to stall. Sometimes i can stop it from stalling by giving it gas at the right time, but most times it will stall. i change my oil every 3 months and after an oil change it doesnt do it until i take a long trip on the freeway or run it for a while. my personal mechanic thought it might be the throttle sensor or whatever its called, but the performance difference i get after an oil change kinda throws that out the window. I am trying NOT to take it in to the dealer because they are a joke and can never get in right away.

Check the Vvt solenoid. They have screens on them and if oil is real dirty those screens will clog up causing it to shut off. Change the Vvt solenoid and keep oil changed should be good
