Idling with heater on

Asked by GuruZ7MYW Dec 06, 2017 at 07:39 PM about the 2015 Jeep Compass Sport

Question type: General

I have had to sit for hours in my 2015 Jeep
Compass and have had the heater running. Is this
bad for my car?

Having the heater on hurts nothing. Running the engine at idle for hours is really not good for it. If this is something you need to do on a regular basis change your oil much more often. I would figure each hour of idling as 40-50 miles of driving and change the oil accordingly.

I have to sit in my Jeep Compass 2018 for about an hour a day should I leave the car running or shut it off completely
