Batteries in my 89 vandura g2500

I'm pretty sure I need a new battery in my 89 g2500
vandura. It seems to get drained while sitting in the
snow. Is it possible to start the engine with the
second battery in the back that runs the lights and
stuff?

That would depend on how the batteries are set up but probably not because the back battery is most likely isolated so that it only runs accessories.
