hi my name is Shawn hatcher and I just got an 88 jeep Cherokee 4x4 6 cylinder 4.0 and when I have it in accerios  everything works wipers, light ect but when I start it up none of that works. what would be the cause of it? get back to me at shawn22996@yahoo.com thank you

there is a new ignition on it and we have taken it out and put it back in everything looked fine

another question for you guys is there a difference between a 87 and a 88 ignition?

I used to have a 87 an I have a 94 jeep cherokee now. Both jeeps used the same ignition switch. The ignition switch changed in 95 if I remember correctly.

Btw our model cherokee has melt down problems involving ignition switch which usually melted both connectors. If that has happened to you or the last owner it might not be wired correctly. Check fuses and wiring under the hood around the the starter relay on the right side(passendger side) of engine compartment.

I have a 87 jeep yj I just replaced my ingition starter switch n is it suppose to be firm ir move wen I tigh so it wount move the key will not turn if can help text pls 409 739 8448
